Eye Contact
The bond between Emma and her nanny here is so visible you can almost reach out and touch it, like an invisible bridge between them. As her nanny carefully spoon-feeds her, Emma is staring at her nanny with such trust in her eyes!
Emma’s nanny is maintaining excellent eye contact with her during her feeding at the Henan Cleft Healing Home. Part of this is probably so she won’t spill the liquid on Emma…but of course our nannies are also trained in the importance of eye contact. Maintaining good eye contact during feeding is an important way to facilitate bonding and optimum brain development. And of course, it must be difficult NOT to stare into those babies’ beautiful eyes!
